    California Warrior Trike Build

The current isn't a problem. I can push about 72 amps at 220 volts for a little while. I just can't keep it up very long if I want lights and water pressure later. This will be my first winter on the solar setup, so I don't even know what my usage is going to feel like. I think the O/A setup...

    Warrior mod

Advice worth more than a nickle. I'll look into new donor bikes. I might be able to use the head tubes/sets, bottom brackets, tires, tubes etc. May be a bargain. I plan on building up my own wheels. It will give me something to do on the upcoming snowy evenings.

    California Warrior Trike Build

It seems like no matter what I do with the wire feed (FCAW) welder, my welds look like I just threw molten metal somewhere in the vicinity of my joint. One of the big problems is that I have a very difficult time seeing the puddle, and can't stop wandering off the line. I've tried all sorts of...

Well, I found out that I still have a lot to learn about size standards. When I got the wheel I measured the outer rim diameter at 22 inches and change, so I assumed it was for a 24 inch wheel. but when I measured for the tire bead diameter, it was right at 559 mm, which is the size for the 26...

    Warrior mod

Thanks, Paul. That all sounds reasonable. I will probably cut the rear fork legs as though it was going to support a 26" wheel. If I build the rear seat tube per the plans, it will place the seat too close to the ground, so I will shorten it a little bit for ground clearance. If I do replace it...

    Warrior mod

Today I got hold of a nice 24" rim. I was planning on using the 26" on the rear wheel as per the plans, but I am considering using this 24" instead. I'm just curious as to what changes I will need to make. I'm thinking that the rear fork legs will be shorter, and the rear seat tube will be a...

Thanks. I don't plan on changing sprockets on the Nuvinci, only on the front. I expect the 2/1 ratio recommendation is to avoid applying excessive torque on the hub. I'm no athlete, so I might be able to cheat on that a little.

That makes sense, because I have yet to have a burn through, although I can see on the bottom where the bead is on top. I got my settings from the inside cover. My heat settings are A, B, C, and D. For flux core 16 gauge it says to set it on A with 1.5 wire speed. Next time I will try it on B...

    California Warrior Trike Build

I may use the rear cvt and no front derailleur so would not need to take up slack while on the go, only when I change pedal position or front sprocket size. I will probably experiment with sprocket size to fit my riding fitness. Since I have lots of hills I would want a very low ratio for...

Has anyone used a NuVinci CVT hub instead of a rear derailleur?

    California Warrior Trike Build

I've been practicing my welding using the flux core setup. I have a Lincoln electric wire feed 110V welder. My beads are terrible and I've tried several setting/techniques. I have the polarity switched to E- and the heat setting all the way down.My beads are just little globules and there is...

I am about to start building a Warrior. I am 75 and live in the northern California mountains. More questions to follow.

    Recumbent trike choice

I am still learning bike terminology and this is not yet familiar to me. What is a quill? I'm not intimidated with lacing them myself. I have watched the video several times, and while tedious, at least I understand the process. I am prepared to expect an extended trial and error process to get...

    Recumbent trike choice

I am trying to find 2 BMX wheels for the front of a Warrior. It appears that BMX wheels do not use disc brakes. I have found numerous sets of front/rear wheels, with the front having a 3/8" axle and the rear having 14mm. (sounds like a mix of dimension units) In most cases the shipping cost is...

    New builder self introduction

So if I order 2 front BMX wheels, how will I know if they have the 14mm axle?
