I should mention that there are a total of 22 of those square blocks required for the device to function.

Notice the very precise angles on the 9 wedges. It took hours of hand sanding to get the slopes correct (draft angles).

Now its looking like a smoker for hot dogs or the like. They are rotated so they are all smoked evenly, assisted by the draft that the design provides.

Either that, or a fan assisted blower of some kind.

No food involved, and I should have also mentioned that the 4th pyramid sidewall is not shown in this photo.
Hint : silent operation is absolutely critical to the success of this half of the device.

It sort of makes me think of one of those clever tables that open out from a muti-segmented (tessalated shapes) central "core" shape and then doubles the size of the table-top as it does so and yet leaves no gaps.

Can't seem to figure out. . .What does what, and how the thingamajig works with the whatchamacallit.

No optical illusion or time keeping, but good guesses. One other thing to note... absolute silence is paramount to successful operation, and half the engineering has going into silencing the motor, gearbox, and several other mechanical parts that are not yet shown. There is a small "robotic" gripper in the mix and a multi directional orientation detector, since this part of the device must know when it is upside down and react accordingly.

Here is a render of what the "Pilot's Device" may look like. The "Spectator Device" is the box thing with all the sensors and computer guts.
of course, both units have a great deal of electronics inside, including a mini computers, motor drivers, RF links, and multiple sensors.



Once completed, I will be blow torching, scraping, hacking, and dirtying this right up so it looks more Ancient.
1200 BC is the age I am after. And... no, it's not a StarGate, this device is not just a prop!

The goal of this multi part device (Square unit and Pyramid unit) is to allow someone to test their skills against mine. Unfortunately for my opponent (victim), I will always defeat them in a way that leaves them wondering "how the hell did you do that" for days! The more technical the victim, the more puzzled they shall be!

Plenty of interesting guesses on my Secret Project, but alas... only one person kind of hit the nail on the hammer (he is also a secret for now)!

Here is a pic of some of the components that work together to make everything work. This is only about half of the mechanical parts, there are many smaller and more intricate parts to be made yet. There are three fairly powerful mini-computers used; one in the pyramid, one in the square box thing to the left, and one in the tiny black box. All three units talk to each other via special radio links as well.



Keep on guessing! It's garden season, so my Nerd Cave time is limited to about 2 hours per week. I will be picking away at this during my water breaks!
