Looking on youtube the other day I was watching a short video from Bolton e bikes. The product is a self contained hydraulic disc brake unit. It's cable operated right down to the caliper assembly. The caliper is double acting, unlike the "normal" Avid style disc brakes. Meaning both brake pads are activated where on my Avid brakes only one pad moves.

A friend of mine has a Greenspeed-based tadpole with cable operated hydraulic disc brakes and they are tremendously affective, far more so than my cable-only disc brakes to the point where you think mine are faulty. Definitely recommended if you can find and afford them.

If you are old enough to have done it and fitted a power booster to a car manufactured before power assistance was common, in my case a 1968 6-cylinderToyota Crown, you will know what I mean - deadly, the first time you braked. A few months later, you never noticed it was there until you tried the opposite foot.
