Thats a fantastic thread, and just what I was looking for. Its interesting that you managed to squeeze in two rings on the front and retained the derailleur to boot. Hows that working out practically ?
The double rings 34/42 work well except the front mech needs to be further out due to the width of the tongsheng. Still in use without problems. Both rings need to be standard rings as the tongsheng has a dish that makes it incomparable. The outer ring fits where the chainwheel protector lived .

Puting on 2 works, but I would go for 9 or more in the back, I stead of 2 or even 3 in the front.
Most people that use 2 or more, use their hands to move it.
There is a ring that makes tgat you can put other ones on it and let it work with a derailleur, but as you go front 1 and a wider range in the back, than you have also a wide range.
